Position Summary Information

Position Summary

This position ensures that the department radio is monitored at all times. This position helps provide 24-hour toll-free telephone access for emergency calls from the service area.

The applicant offered this position may be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.

• Previous experience with dispatch equipment preferred.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities Summary

• Monitors radio and provides emergency telephone call coverage; activates the TTY device if a call from a hearing-impaired person is received.
• Logs all calls on the Automated Records Management System (ARMS).
• Monitors the Alarm Monitoring System; monitors the digital logger to ensure it is properly operational.
• Contacts and utilizes the services of the “AT&T Language Line” in the event that a caller does not speak English.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Clayton State University’s Public Safety department.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Must have physical ability to perform essential job functions; flexibility to work weekends, holidays, nights, and rotating shifts as needed; and function under stressful conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of related computer equipment, operation, and software with MS Office.
