Position Summary Information

Position Summary

The Department of Landscape Management is currently hiring for two (2) Groundskeeper I.

This position performs entry level landscaping duties. This position requires landscaping maintenance and installation (operating zero turn mowers, chain saws, trimmers, blowers, picking up trash, planting, and pruning). This position reports to the Landscape Supervisor and Assistant Director, Landscape Management.

The applicant offered this position will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

• Valid Georgia Driver’s License required.
• Few years of related experience with landscape maintenance, landscape construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience in commercial environment.
• Experience and ability to work in a fast paced commercial landscape environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with a diverse range of people.
• Proven ability to work as a team member.
• A strong customer service orientation while providing helpful and friendly approach to serving the campus community.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to perform constant, intense physical labor; move & use equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must comply with best practices for safety precaution. Must wear safety gears while working as required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities Summary

• Operating zero turn mowers.
• Performs landscaping duties, such as string trimmers, edger’s, blowers, chainsaws and other motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Prunes shrubs and trees, waters annual flowers, spray weeds and picks up trash on campus grounds
• Services equipment such as tractors, mowers, edger’s, string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc.
• Available in the event of an emergency.
• Available to work weekends and/or overtime as needed.
• Performs daily campus safety walks.
• Other related duties as assigned.
