Position Summary Information

Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the department chair, faculty and students of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. This includes office support, providing assistance to students and visitors in the office, referring them to appropriate offices/departments as needed and performing other support functions as needed.

The applicant offered this position may be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

Some years of experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and some years of office experience (in public higher education institution preferred) or equivalent combination of education and general office experience.

Responsibilities Summary

• Provide administrative support to department chair, faculty, and students, including reception services, scheduling appointments and meeting, taking meeting minutes, researching files, preparing and proofreading correspondence and other material, assisting with class scheduling in BANNER, preparing reports and other documents as required by the department chair.
• Assist students and visitors by providing information and helping to determine who can best answer questions, provide basic information about the class schedule, and other non-academic assistance to students regarding university and department policies and procedures.
• Purchase equipment and office supplies using appropriate procurement policies, maintain inventory of office supplies and assist with inventories of computer equipment and other technologies (including equipment checkout and return by students for class assignments).
• Manage textbook requests.
• Maintain department records and filing system.
• Assist in organizing department events by arranging for meeting rooms, catering, agendas, purchasing awards, event planning, and other duties associated with these events.
• Assist the department chair with budget reviews and fiscal year closing.
• Participate in staff professional development, staff compliance and procurement training, and software training as directed by the department or required by the University and/or University System of Georgia.
• Other duties as assigned by the department chair.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Keyboarding skills of at least 50 wpm, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications are required.

Must be able to maintain filing systems, inventories, and records.
