Position Summary

The College of Health at Clayton State University (CSU) is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Dean of Nursing. This is a 12-month, tenure-track, administrative position that is responsible for leading CSU’s School of Nursing. Appointment date is negotiable but no later than July 1st, 2018. The Associate Dean of Nursing reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health and is responsible for the following:
• Articulating a clear vision for the School of Nursing (SON).
• Managing the SON’s budgets.
• Maintaining a collegial environment where all are valued and supported.
• Being an effective ambassador for the University, College and SON.
• Working collaboratively with all members of the College of Health teams to advance the College and University’s mission.
• Maintaining state, regional and national approvals and accreditations as applicable.
• Implementing an effective strategic plan for the SON that supports and enhances those of the College and University
• Evaluating nursing faculty and staff performance.
• Making recommendations about needed resources and facility requirements.
• Establishing oneself as a community, statewide and regional leader for nursing.
• Teaching selected undergraduate or graduate courses.


Required Qualifications include:

• Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field with a master’s degree in nursing
• Successful experiences leading graduate, undergraduate and/or online nursing programs.
• Experience teaching in a baccalaureate and/or graduate programs
• Record of service and scholarship justifying appointment at the associate or full professor rank
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Experience with CCNE accreditation and curriculum evaluation.
• Current or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Working with students from underrepresented populations
• Implementing student recruitment and retention initiatives.
• Providing oversite of nurse practitioner programs.
• In the integrating of multiple instructional technologies.
• Managing budgets, scheduling classes, and mentoring faculty.
• Writing federal and state grant proposals.
• Generating external funding.

This is a tenure-track appointment that reports to the Dean of the College of Health. Salary commensurate with experience and competitive with comparable departments.
