Position Summary Information

Position Summary

This position is responsible for working directly with students regarding detailed information needed to determine financial aid eligibility. This position is also responsible for accurately awarding federal, state, and institutional funds based on regulations and established policies and procedures. This position requires extensive knowledge of Title IV regulations, State scholarship regulations, SAP policy, and departmental procedures. This position must be able to use this knowledge to make independent decisions that result in accurate awards.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirements

Few years of financial aid experience with a bachelor’s degree or several years of financial aid experience with no bachelor’s degree.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities Summary

Performs verification, resolves conflicting information, corrects FAFSA information, adjusts awards as needed, and determines student aid eligibility with both speed and accuracy.
Awards students manually as needed. Reviews various reports including but not limited to transfer monitoring, new ISIR information, changes in eligibility etc. and updates awards to keep institution in compliance.
Advise students and parents in detail about financial aid based on personal and often complex circumstances. Completes forms requesting financial aid information with student authorization. Responds to financial aid inquiries.
Represents the Office of Financial Aid at various programs including Orientation, Open House, etc. as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director of Financial Aid.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Experience working in the Banner system
• Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and ability to understand complex processes
• Knowledge of general office policies and procedures and basic office equipment operation (hardware, financial aid software, and Microsoft Office products)
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
