Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Provides clinical support to the department through assigned patient care activities under the supervision of the medical director and nurse practitioner. Supports the primary duties of the registered nurse to include patient triage, phlebotomy, medication administration and patient education. Provide administrative support for patient scheduling, database management, and patient referrals. The position reports to the Assistant Director, University Health Services.

Qualifications

* Current licensure issued by the State of Georgia as a licensed practical nurse in good standing required.
* Current certification in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association required.
* Minimum of three years of experience as a licensed practical nurse in a physician office, hospital or health department required.
* Computer proficiency required; minimum of one year of previous experience with electronic health record system required.

Responsibilities Summary

Performs individualized patient care functions for students, faculty and staff under the clinical supervision of the medical director and the nurse practitioner. Adheres to established department policies and procedures. Maintains compliance with all laws and regulations pertaining to confidentiality, privacy, OSHA and the provision of patient care services. Functions under the Georgia Nurse Practice Act within the scope of licensure.

Maintains accurate and prompt documentation in the electronic medical record system, the laboratory information system, and the Georgia Registry of Immunization Transaction and Services.

Assists the registered nurse with patient education presentations, outreach efforts with student organizations, and promotional events.

Assists in inventory control and supply management of medications, vaccines, and medical supplies.

Provides coverage for administrative functions of the front desk, as assigned.

Assists Director and Medical Director in administrative tasks, as assigned.
