Position Summary

The Assistant/Associate Director of Alumni and Annual Giving Programs is responsible for assisting with the strategic development and collaborative execution of programs fostering alumni engagement and increasing annual support to the University. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Development, the Assistant/Associate Director will be responsible for increasing alumni engagement and philanthropic support through direct mail, web-based communications, engagement events, and volunteer groups.

Annual giving and/or alumni relations experience highly preferred. Experience in non-profit or other areas within Higher Education, such as student affairs, may be considered.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities Summary

• Coordinate, develop, implement, and analyze direct mail and online giving efforts for the Annual Fund. Responsible for writing and/or editing solicitation materials including letters, web content, and other annual fund materials. Propose and implement electronic solicitation schedule and strategy, balancing timing of communications.
• Plan and implement all aspects of two annual campus based fund raising initiatives- Faculty/Staff Fund Drive and the Senior Class Gift Campaign.
• Under the direction of the AVP and in concert with the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement, coordinate the Alumni Association membership marketing operations functions including solicitation/acquisition, fulfillment, and renewal and retention strategy implementation. Establish annual membership goals, develop and implement plans to achieve those goals.
• Serve as the primary advisor for the student alumni association, Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT). Facilitate the creation and development of an annual plan, mentor members to develop them as leaders, coordinate activities, manage meeting and event logistics, and assist with recruiting efforts.
• Develop a comprehensive fiscal year based social media, electronic communications, and direct mail plan for various constituent groups that works in concert with the division of Marketing & Communication’s plan for the University.
• Develop a working knowledge of CSU in general and funding priorities specifically so as to articulate a compelling case to all constituents.
• Manage annual stewardship correspondence with constituents as part of the standard department gift receipting and acknowledgement process.
• Research and incorporate ongoing annual fund and alumni relations best practices and develop new and creative strategies to increase support and engagement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
