Position Summary

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) in the College of Information and Mathematical Sciences at Clayton State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Starting date is August 2018.
CSIT Department offers the following academic programs and courses:
• Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology
• Bachelor of Information Technology with Concentrations in Database Administration, Networking and Security, and Informatics
• Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (Online)
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Concentrations in Big Data, Cybersecurity, and Games Design and Development
• Minors in Computer Science and Information Technology
• Service courses to support core curriculum and programs in Healthcare Management and Business

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
• A terminal degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline
• Demonstrated capability for contributions to programs in cybersecurity and/or data analytics
• Demonstrated capability for contributions in research and scholarly activities
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States by the time of appointment
Additional, desirable qualifications:
• Coursework as well as academic and/or professional background in Machine Learning, Data Engineering/Science/Analytics, Cloud/Edge/Fog Computing, Software Engineering, and/or Mobile Software Development
• A record of or potential for quality teaching
• Evidence of current involvement in scholarly research

Minimum Education Requirements

Earned doctorate degree in Computer Science or closely related field by the time of appointment (August 1, 2018).

Responsibilities Summary

Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in undergraduate computer science and information technology courses, student mentoring, developing and updating course contents, pursuing scholarly and professional activities, and participating in department, college, university, and community services. In addition, a part of the responsibilities is to contribute to the outreach program, representing the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at various K-12 outreach and recruiting events throughout the year.
