Position Summary

The Spivey Hall Children’s Choir Program (SHCCP) General Manager is responsible for managing the Program’s administrative, communication, and logistical activities. The General Manager supports the SHCCP artistic staff with assistance from Spivey Hall Education staff and SHCCP volunteers. Founded in 1994, the SHCCP consists of ca. 170 children ages 10 to 18 drawn from 17 metro-Atlanta counties, rehearsing and performing in three choirs. Each choir holds annual auditions, rehearses each Monday evening, and gives six Spivey Hall concerts (December and May) each season; the advanced Tour Choir performs additional community concerts and tours annually.

Minimum five years’ experience in arts administration, performing arts education, or a related field. Experience with children’s choirs preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma and equivalent experience.

Responsibilities Summary

Manage and coordinate all SHCCP internal and external communications with artistic staff, Spivey Hall administrative staff, parents, students, and the community.
Plan and coordinate annual audition, rehearsal, and performance schedules for all three choirs inclusive of preparing and processing audition registrations, communicating results, sending tuition payment reminders, and arranging for appropriate spaces for all activities.
Attend all rehearsals, performances, tours, and staff meetings. Includes tracking attendance, notification of audition results, absences, and behavior challenges.
Plan and organize regional, domestic, and international tours, including selection of tour sites and negotiation of tour costs, as well as fundraising events supporting tour costs.
Purchase all supplies necessary for the SHCCP inclusive of uniforms, music, folder bags, uniform bags, pins, and music.
Actively promote the SHCCP auditions, concerts, and fundraising activities. Supervise the creation of promotional materials, concert program books, and tour books for the SHCCP.
Collaborate with Spivey Hall Education Manager and Education Assistant in the development and management of SHCCP budgets and the processing of tuition and related payments made by Children’s Choir families.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of arts administration, non-profit budgeting and educational program marketing. Knowledge of choral music and pedagogy a plus.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, including public speaking skills. Exceptional organization and time-management skills. Strong personal computer skill in MS Word and Excel as well as desktop publishing and data base management. Demonstrated budget management skills.
Ability to work with diverse constituencies of all ages from a wide range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, including parents, teachers, and staff. Ability to work collaboratively but also make decisions independently. Ability to organize tours for 60-70 people (children, artistic staff, chaperones).
