Position Summary Information

Position Summary

This position coordinates activities for the operation of the Department of Social Sciences and works closely to support the Department Chair. This includes monitoring departmental budget and supply inventory; serving as the point of contact for vendor ordering and requisition processing; assisting department faculty with travel reimbursement submission; assisting with course scheduling and registration; updating department marketing material and webpages; providing front-line customer service for incoming calls and in-person office interactions with students, staff and faculty; and performing other support functions as needed.

Qualifications

Must be able to multi-task and work in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment. Must have experience working with organizational budgets. Knowledge of Banner is preferred.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred or High School Diploma/GED with at least four years of equivalent education-related work experience. Experience in higher education setting is preferred.

Responsibilities Summary

• Assists department head and faculty with reports, correspondence, data collection, and other administrative tasks as assigned
• Purchasing, keeping accurate record of expenditures by department and by designated budget account; time/payroll reports
• Schedules classes; maintains accurate records of enrollment, faculty teaching load, book orders, etc.
• Process faculty applications, new hire packets, and provide administrative support to faculty
• Routine office support, to include filing, answering telephones, assisting students, and registration support
• Other duties as assigned.
