Position Summary Information

Position Summary

This position oversees the moving, delivery, or assembly of items or equipment on campus property. Items involved may include furniture, equipment (motorized and non-motorized), supplies, trash and recyclable materials. Duties also include emptying all trash cans/bins and picking up trash throughout the grounds. Periodically performs landscaping duties. This may involve landscape maintenance (operating mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, planting annuals, shrubs and trees). This position will be responsible for insuring assigned work and scheduled functions to be carried out and completed on time. This position will be assisting the lead move set-ups and move individual with removal of surplus items from campus departments or offices, to the warehouse, sets up for campus events, which involves tables & chairs, and other equipment. Creates and maintains a positive and respectful working environment. This position plays a key role and works closely with Clayton State University colleagues to ensure the use of appropriate policy and procedures are followed during move and surplus of items. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Landscape Management Facilities Management department.

The applicant offered this position will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.


Valid Georgia Driver’s License required.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities Summary

• Police main campus and CSU east for trash pickup and emptying of trash receptacles. Put out recycle bins around campus for recycling collection.
• Responsible for moves office furniture, boxes, etc. as required.
• Responsible for removal of surplus items from campus departments or offices, to the warehouse.
• Responsible for sets up for campus events, which involves tables & chairs, and other equipment.
• Responsible for assisting grounds crew with weed eating, blowing leaves, planting annuals, shrubs and trees, and collecting fallen debris when needed.
• Responsible for leading and coordinating moves and setup team for campus events including commencement twice a year.
• Responsible for assisting in the implementation of move and setups, surplus policy and procedures.
• Performs daily campus safety walks and must be available in the event of an emergency.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Must have the ability to work within a team.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting and strenuous manual tasks.
• Must be able to operate delivery equipment.
• Must be available in the event of an emergency.
• Experience with computers, including database, word and timekeeping systems.
• Skill to multi-task and manage work assignment, and excellent time management.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to wear safety and protective equipment as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
