Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Administer group computerized tests in the Testing Center testing labs; sometimes administer paper exams in the Testing Center testing labs or on other Clayton State campuses. Schedule 1-2 months in advance on rotating schedule with other test administrators. Flexible hours required, including some evening and Saturday hours. Hours per week will range from 0 – 19 ½.

The applicant offered this position may be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications

Several years’ experience with computer usage. Experience with presenting information to groups. Ability to move about the room efficiently and quietly and to multi-task, providing testing services for groups of test candidates.

Minimum Education Requirements

College education preferred, but not required if have extensive computer and/or test-administration experience.

Responsibilities Summary

Responsible for preparing computers for the candidates, managing clients from check-in through test completion, troubleshooting exams and computers, maintaining testing integrity, and closing down the room after completion of the exams. Observe candidates while testing to make sure that they do not use unauthorized aids to cheat on exams or to take exam information from the testing labs. Manage documents to make certain that clients are checked in properly and that all materials are distributed and returned. Provide pleasant customer service to the candidates while maintaining authority over the testing experiences. Clean the desks and straighten the room before leaving. Assist with special projects and office coverage when needed. Occasionally assist with job coaching or training new test administrators. Sometimes may provide test results to clients. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and/or other programs or databases—comfortable with computers. Able to provide pleasant customer service and to have patience for clients. Able to lead a group of examinees and to read test instructions aloud clearly and effectively. Good listening skills and effective oral and written communication skills required. Able to provide accurate and detailed paperwork. Need good problem-solving skills. Able to maintain confidentiality about tests and candidates. Able to be alert during long stretches of quiet time. Able to maintain control of the room without distracting the clients. Able to discern when to seek assistance or to send an uncooperative candidate from the room.
